March Snippets

March and April are always such busy months for us.  I usually just let the ole' blog fall to they wayside, but I'm trying to do better this year.

Here are a few March highlights that didn't get their own post.

David made this cool rocket ship at school.  I did not save it so I had to take a photo.  He loves all things SPACE!

Kid's watching Wreck-It-Ralph in our bedroom.  We affectionately call Luke "Wreck-It-Luke" because he is so destructive.  The movie is really cute and so is Luke!

Claire painted this picture in an after-school art class she took this winter.

Claire and David playing with our neighbor.  I'm not sure what this contraption was but they were all connected with jump ropes.

Claire and her friend Avery at church.  Twinkies!

David tries really hard to keep busy in the afternoons while I work a couple of hours after he gets home from preschool.

Sometimes I just put out a bunch of craft items and let him go to town!  It gets pretty messy!

And sometimes he spills a container of dry beans and pasta on the floor and dresses up like a pirate.

We played soccer this spring.  And it was cold for most of the games.  38 degrees the last game on April 20th!  We've had to bundle up this season.

Claire finally got some PINK soccer shoes.  Before we've always gotten neutral shoes to pass down to her brothers.  I finally caved on the pink ...

Luke needs lots of snacks to keep him entertained at soccer.

And he has a nice big boo-boo on his cheek where he fell out of a chair at the kitchen table.

Claire went to a roller skating birthday party.  They wear me out!!  She had so much fun though, I had to drag her out of there.  After about an hour of skating round and round, she finally got the hang of it.  I'm just glad I didn't have to skate too.

Claire and McCall-the birthday girl!

It snowed on March 26th-the week of spring break.  Not much, but SNOW!  SPRING BREAK!

Luke and I got to hang out a couple of days while Claire and David were at spring break camp.  I've never been home alone with him much and we had a grand time!

Palm branches from church on Palm Sunday.  Luke was a big fan!

Claire looking cute in her MM shirt-sequins and all!  (You can't really see them in the picture but Mickey is covered.)   And she is always ready to strike a pose!

Will has been practicing his guitar here and there.  The kids like it when he plays "Our God" which is slow-going at times.

Claire has been making her bed every morning-a new chore.  It's not as neat as I would like it but it's made.  It's hard for me not to go in there and re-do it, but I'm trying to let those things go!

David has been working on riding his bike without training wheels.  He does pretty good but hasn't picked it up as fast as Claire did.  (I think Claire was older when we taught her.)

There he goes.

And down he goes.  We're not quite ready to move to the blacktop yet.

Maybe next month ...

February Snippets

February was a short, but busy month!  We packed a lot in!

Claire and I did a MASSIVE re-organization of her American Girl Doll clothes.  Each outfit is now nicely housed (with all accessories, etc.) in its very own gallon Ziploc bag and stored standing up in the pink bin in the photo.  Now she just needs to learn to put everything back where she got it when she plays with her dolls!

Happy Chinese New Year!  David spent an entire week celebrating Chinese New Year at his preschool.  They did all sorts of fun stuff, including making this fancy headpiece.

This little guy can go to town on some corn on the cob.  Unfortunately, he doesn't get much actual corn off the cob and into his mouth.

Claire has 3 loose teeth.  They have been loose for months.  Will is giving them a little wiggle to move things along!

Brother love!  I still love to dress my boys alike!

We sent some Valentine's Day goodies over to our missionary friends in South Africa.  (They were delivered via a mission trip group from our church.)  They loved all their little goodies and we loved putting together their "love" package.

Here are their girls in their shirts.  It is summer there so they can wear short-sleeve tees in February.  I'm not real sure why Target thought we could here in the USA?

It was actually warm enough to play outside one Saturday and Claire and our neighbor Kate had a fun time outside with their AG dolls.

While the kids played outside, I sat outside with them and read Sparkly Green Earrings.  Melanie, or Big Mama as she is know on her blog, is one of my favorite bloggers and I read her blog as soon as I sit down at my computer each day.  Her book was absolutely a pleasure to read.  And right now, the Kindle book is only $5.  I read this book in 2 days ... it was that good!  You will laugh, you will cry, you will wish Melanie lived next door to you, you will be glad you read it!

Luke has taken to undressing himself lately.  This is how I found him after his nap one day.  He had gotten himself into quite the predicament!  Not sure you can tell but the shirt is the ONLY thing he is wearing (pull-up and pants are off too).

Claire and David discovered Fun-Dip.  David got several packs as Valentines at school.  They both really liked it ... I mean, what's not to like about colored sugar?

While I was away on a girls' scrapbooking weekend, Will and his parents took the kids to a sports fest sponsored by a local radio station.  They had lots of fun and ran into several business and local sports team mascots.  Will would not let them get their picture taken with Smokey (UT's mascot).

Will and Claire got to go to a Vanderbilt basketball game one night.  We are thankful for friends who share their tickets with us on occasion!

David has to entertain himself while I work on MWF afternoons.  One day, he worked every single puzzle in our school room.

Meme (my mom) has a birthday in February so my sister and I took her to lunch one day to celebrate!

That is all for February!

(And now, for one brief moment in time, I am caught up!)

January Snippets

Once upon a time when I named this blog, I wanted to capture little snippets of our daily life.  Sometimes I do a good job and sometimes I don't.  I do take a lot of daily pictures on my phone and most of the time that is where they stay.

So, my resolve for 2013 is to do a little monthly round-up post (or phone dump) to cover some things that might not necessarily merit their very own blog post.   I'm already running behind ... great resolution!!

Claire modeling her new robe she got for Christmas (and little Claire matching).  She wears it a lot!

I saw Les Miserables (the movie) with a friend.  I quickly became OBSESSED with the soundtrack.  I saw the play/musical in London in 1999.  I had forgotten how amazing it was!

Roll Tide!  We cheered on Alabama for the 3rd National Championship in the Nick Saban era (14th overall) on January 7th!

David went to a birthday party at Glow Galaxy.  He has talked of nothing else since then!  These kids are all from his MWF class.

Claire and I met Meme near her house and got mani/pedis.  And then we had to wait out a tornado in a nearby Dollar General before we could drive home.  Fortunately, there was no touchdown near us.

We are big fans of Sweet CeCe's for a treat after school!  Claire and David's favorite is chocolate with m&ms.  My favorite right now is Lemon Bar and Cupcake Batter.  Luke will eat whatever I feed him!  (He was not a hug fan of the Lemon Bar!)

My kids got a lot of legos for Christmas.  And they are slowing taking over my dining room table!  Yikes!  That is a lot of teeny-tiny parts that we have to keep Luke away from!

Claire and did a little science experiment for school.  We kept the celery in the cups for about 48 hours but Will threw the celery away before I could snap an "after picture".

I went to see Sandi Patti, Wayne Watson and Larnelle Harris live in concert.  My nerdy teenage self who loved to belt out some Sandi Patti in the confines of my bedroom was very excited.  She was great but my two girlfriends and myself brought the median age in the room down by about 20 years!  And we are not that young!  We did get to hear my all-time fave Sandi Patti song!

That is all for January!
