Preschool Corner: L is for Ladybugs

Welcome to our letter L week ... all about Ladybugs (and Llamas).

{David is 3 years, 11 months old}

Our ladybug printables came from Confessions of a Homeschooler's LOTW curriculum.  Many of our other printables came from Homeschool Creations and 1plus1plus1equals1.

Ladybug graphing/counting with red beads.  I love using themed counters when I have them.

Ladybug lacing.

Ladybug patterning.

Ladybug uppercase/lowercase letter sort.

Ladybug shape puzzles.

Ladybug size sequencing.

Lion watercolor painting (from Melissa & Doug watercolor book).

Our Letter L verse from RRSP: "Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your father in heaven."  Matthew 5:16.

Cut & tape activity.

This was a long one that he didn't quite learn.

Ladybug magnet page.

Ladybug spelling ... uppercase and lowercase.

Letter L letter search.

Baby Luke is a big fan of the magnet page too.  And he looks so cute playing with it.

Ladybug coloring page.

Playdough Letter L.  I mean, he is rolling that playdough out with vigor!

Our Llama craft.  (Llama template here.)  He colored the template and I cut it out and glued it to a piece of construction paper.  Then we added the cotton ball fur.

Letter L Phonics page from RRS Kindergarten.  He does really well with his letter sounds and has had no problem with these Kindergarten level sheets.

And the math sheet (a graphing activity) from RRSK.

We used stickers that I decorated as Ladybugs for our do-a-dot letter page this week.

Handwriting.

Letter L poke page.  He could totally care less about this activity.  He purposely doesn't do it right and just acts silly poking all over the page.

And on a side note ... sweaty much?  He got so hot in this sweater!  He is all boy!

Our L board.

Some L books that we loved reading this week:
Ladybug Girl by Jacky Davis
Llama Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney
Llama Llama Mad at Mama by Anna Dewdney
Llama Llama Misses Mama by Anna Dewdney (this book always make me cry)

We love the Llama Llama books and I just found out there is a series of board books available for pre-order on Amazon.  I can't wait to get these for Luke!  He loves books most out of all of my children.

This post is linked up to these great blogs ... check them out for more great learning ideas!

Party like a Parisian Pig

Remember this cute lollipop party that I wrote about back in the fall?  Well my friend has done it again.  This party was for her 6-year-old daughter back in March.

Theme: black/white/pink Paris and Pigs.

I love her attention to detail.

Eiffel tower chocolate suckers.

Love the ceiling decorations.

Another cute banner.

More cute decorations!

More fun treats and an awesome decorated table.

Goodies for the guests.

Sweet treats.

Piggy pudding.

Cupcakes.

Here is the birthday girl all dolled up and ready for her close-up!

Love her Eiffel Tower shirt.
Time to blow out the candles & sing Happy Birthday.

What a fun party!  Happy Birthday Miss M!

Birthdays

My mom had a birthday back in February.  Claire and I got to take her to lunch (with my sister) the day after her birthday.

My mom and my sister Ashley.

Will's mom and I both have birthdays in March (10 days apart).  We visited Will's family on the weekend on her birthday to celebrate.

Here we are with my favorite cake ... Italian Cream Cake.  And I just realized that I am wearing the same dress I had on my mom's at my mom's birthday lunch here.  (It's new so you will probably see it a lot!)

Here we are without the cake.

Here are some pictures of RiRi and her grandkids while she was opening gifts.

These are Will's brother's kids.

My birthday fell on a Wednesday and I had to go to church with Claire for the new christian class so we met for frozen yogurt at Sweet CiCi's after church.  Luke will yell at you if you don't feed him fast enough.  And he is loud!

There was a lot of chocolate ice cream.

Me and the kiddos.

I got this awesome necklace for my birthday.  (I picked it out myself.)  Claire thinks we are going to share it.  Not any time soon!

Will and I did get to go out for a grown-up dinner and movie (The Hunger Games) over the weekend to officially celebrate my birthday.  But the kids get so excited about our birthdays, we always like to include them in the celebrating.

Daddy went camping ...

Will went on his first for-real camping trip back in February.  Like, he pitched a tent and slept on the ground and boiled his own water camping trip (and drank water from a stream).

His two friends, who are professionals, supplied him with most of his camping gear so this was not a big investment for us.  They went to the Firey Gizzard trail in Grundy County, Tennessee and hiked about 2 miles in to their campsite.

His view ... beautiful waterfalls.

We had a rather mild February, but the night they spent outside got down to freezing temps.  Good thing Will had a nice warm sleeping bag!

Hiking out the morning after.  This is Will with the other newbie camper.  (There were four guys total.)

Will's tent.  His humble abode.

Another beautiful view.

Steve, Will and Chris.  Chris is Will's business partner and I joke that he talks to him more everyday than he talks to me.  But he really does.  Fortunately, he is a great guy!

Will and I neither one had outdoorsy fathers.  I went camping for the first time when I was in college.  I was really hoping that he would like camping because I think it would be something fun for our family to do together when our kids get a little older.  As long as there is a campsite with a toilet and a shower!  And lots of smores.  And singing around the campfire.  (I don't think Will's crew did any singing.)  I don't mind cooking over an open fire, but I would miss my indoor plumbing!  Other than the frigid cold, I think he had a great time!
